It’s the middle of the summer and I hope it’s been productive for you so far. That may seem counterintuitive, because maybe for you, you’re taking time off to play and going on vacation this summer. A lot of people think that time off is not productive, when actually, it’s really productive time. One thing I do in the summer is put together a reading list of books I don’t normally get to during the year. I love to read biographies of famous people that tell their story and history. One of the books I’m reading is called, “Essentialism.” It talks about focusing your life, making choices to let go of some things and hang onto others. One of the things it talks about is sleeping and playing more. It says that when you play, when you take time away from your normal activities, it’s some of the most productive time for your mind, and your creativity.
What you’ll find, is the best ideas you have are going to come from taking time off. I can’t wait to hear about your ideas and see what God is going to do in your life and through your life.
Taking time away is also a great time for you to grow spiritually. The way you grow spiritually is by staying connected. During the summer, keep watching church online, reconnect with your friends or have a small group family gathering. You can also come to our Tuesday night Creek Nights and hang out and meet some new people. More than anything, whenever you can, make sure you come to church on Sunday through the summer and reconnect. That’s a powerful way for you to stay connected spiritually, and in every way.
I look forward to a great summer, I hope you do too. I hope it’s the best summer ever for you. We’ll see you around on Sundays!
