Today we’re talking about Veterans Day, and would like to celebrate all the men and women who are serving our country. My Dad was in the Army, so growing up in a military family, I can resonate well with the feelings other military families are going through. I feel their struggle because I remember how we used to move every single year, even if we were stationed in the same city. We would still move because my Dad would be placed at different parts of the city and he needed to be more accessible. I feel the pain of moving and I remember my Dad being gone for the entire summer because he was in training somewhere, and also the constant threat of deployment. I remember all these things and the angst we felt.
“It made me think of Jesus’ words when he was speaking to his disciples and to people who would listen, he said, ‘There’s no greater love than the person who is willing to lay down his life for another.'”
My heart goes out to military families in ways I never thought they would, until I started reflecting on my own personal journey. It made me think of Jesus’ words when he was speaking to his disciples and to people who would listen, he said, “There’s no greater love than the person who is willing to lay down his life for another.” And I can’t think of a better example than our military families and the brave men and women who are serving our country. They are putting their lives on the line so we can have the freedom to worship and to have the ability to create our own futures.
Those of you that are that are serving in the military, I want to thank you for your service, and I want to thank those of you that are part of a military family. I encourage you this Veterans Day, find someone you know who has served and stop and thank them for the sacrifices they have made for your freedom.
