Invest in your spiritual growth this year through 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting

As a church, we’re devoting the first 21 days of 2026 to prayer and fasting. This is intentional time set aside to seek the Lord. Isaiah 55:6 says, “Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near.” Below, you’ll find resources to help you make the most of this time of connection with God each day:

If you’re new to reading the Bible, start with the Open My Eyes 21-day plan!

If you want to go further, consider starting an annual reading plan like “The Bible with Nicky and Pippa Gumbel.”

If you already have a Bible reading habit, just stick with that for the 21 days.

Praise
  • Remind yourself in prayer who God is & what He can do.
  • Prayer prompt: Psalms 28:7 | “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.

Repent

  • Confess sin and receive forgiveness — both for things you’ve done that you shouldn’t have (sins of commission) and things you failed to do that you should have (sins of omission).
  • Prayer Prompt: 1 John 1:9 | “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”
Ask
  • Invite God into your challenges & seek His provision, wisdom, favor, and justice.
  • Prayer Prompt: Matt 7:7-8 | “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”
Yield
  • Spend a few quiet moments waiting on God.
  • Prayer Prompt: Psalm 130:5-6 | “I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope. I wait for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning, more than watchmen wait for the morning.

Choose a Fast

Choose a Fast

Fasting breaks your routine and makes room for God by eliminating food or a comfort for a set period of time. Traditionally, fasting "starves the flesh and feeds the spirit" by replacing the time you spend preparing and eating a meal with prayer and Bible reading. You could also do a partial fast or abstain from something else besides food. Always drink lots of water!

  • Daily – Skip 1 meal each day. For example: skip lunch, connecting with God during your meal time instead.
  • Weekly – Skip all meals for one, 24-hour period each week. For example: eat a meal on Tuesday at sundown and don’t eat again until Wednesday at sundown.
  • Partial Fasts – Skip a certain ingredient or kind of food for all 21 days like sugar, alcohol, coffee, etc. “The Daniel Fast” is an increasingly popular version of this.
  • Abstinence – Skip something else that isn’t food for 21 days like social media, entertainment, or some other comfort. If you’ve struggled with an eating disorder or have dietary restrictions, then this is a better choice for you.
