As I was reflecting on some of my Bible reading, I noticed that the Apostle Paul seems like a sports fan. Now we don’t know for sure, and this is speculation, but reading through his writing and letters, he would say things like, “I want to run the race,” or “I condition my body like a boxer so that I can be disciplined.” He talks about winning the prize. To run the race in such a way that he wants to win the prize. To me that says he enjoyed sports. At least he understood them to a point where maybe he was a fan.
“Do I discipline myself to be the best version of me that I can be for Jesus?”
I started thinking more and more about this and questioning things in my life. Do I represent Jesus’s number one fan? Do I run the race with purpose? Do I discipline myself to be the best version of me that I can be for Jesus? Now my challenge for you is to ask yourself these things:
- Is your life pursuing Jesus?
- Is your race showing others how valuable God is in your life?
- Do you sport a number one Jesus fan jersey so that people can see you and ask questions?
- What is it about your life that shows Jesus is the prize you reach for?
Maybe you start your morning off by waking up and the first question you ask is, “God, how will you use me today?” Maybe it’s as simple as that. You’d be surprised the doors that God opens for you to run that race and receive the prize Paul talks about, if you just simplify some things in your life. Pursue God today!
